Loyalty. Honor. Respect.
REPUTATION
Nestled among the winding waters of the marsh, Fenclan is a notoriously tight-knit and tight-lipped clan. He who speaks out against his clan to outsiders can just as quickly expect to become an outsider himself. As such, you will not find Fenclan cats gossiping to others at gatherings.
Cold as they are to outsiders, on the inside you will find incomparable warmth. As a member of Fenclan you will never have to face any trial alone. Each step you take has the power of a hundred cats behind it who came before you.
Respect is of utmost value to these cats. Disrespecting your superiors will be met with the harshest of punishments. Age and rank are the primary forms of delineating authority. Elders are highly honored in Fenclan, and as a whole are nearly on par with the Leader when it comes to honorable status. The Leader frequently comes to the Elders for advice and wisdom.
Although Fenclan does have a single ruling head, the Leader, they are not entirely autocratic. The Leader never makes a decision without consulting their Elders and Senior Warriors. In cases where opinions are divided, the Leader can act as a decisive and unifying point of authority.
CHARACTERISTICS
Due to the nature of their territory, other clans often make remarks about how Fenclan cats must have webbed paws. The rumors are actually true! Fenclan cats have been known to have larger, webbed paws that help distribute their weight more evenly across uncertain, muddy ground. They also enhance their swimming capabilities.
These cats have become incredibly adapt at navigating muddy landscapes. They are also very familiar on the processes necessary to rescue a sinking cat.
It's hard to hunt when your paws get stuck in the mud, so Fenclan cats have to specifically train around this obstacle. This is a deterrent for prey-stealers, however, which is beneficial to the clan.
Fenclan cats are no stranger to wet pelts, which is a necessary trait when it comes to hunting aquatic creatures in their territory. They have been witnessed to be chin deep in water while their hind legs remain on the muddy shore, in order to catch fish, frogs, or even the rare duck.
Due to the variation in their territory, Fenclan cats have learned to hunt a very wide variety of creatures. The marsh is a magnet to wildlife of all kinds, and the cats here have learned to use that to their advantage.
Far from their camp lies the Far Reach Forest. This is a dangerous trek for young cats to take alone and as such, it is frequently one of the final trials of Apprentices before they become Warriors.

THE WARRIOR CODE
- Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.
- Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.
- Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If any warrior or apprentice is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating.
- Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
- A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
- Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
- A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
- The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires or is exiled.
- After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
- A Gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.
- Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
- No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan.
- The word of the Clan Leader is the warrior code.
- An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his/her battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.
- A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.
